Fashion shouldn’t cost us the earth. But we have a global industry that encourages the over purchase, over-consumption, and underuse of clothing, damaging the environment and exploiting those who make our clothes. Our report set out practical steps that the Government should take to help fix the fashion industry.
It is astounding that the Government has refused to adopt any of our 18 recommendations. It shows they are out of step with the public, who want clothes that are socially, ethically and environmentally sustainable, and an industry that is ready to change. It is another sign that this high on ambition and low on action Government does not take environmental protection or workers’ rights seriously.
If you feel the same and want to add your name to the chorus of people calling for change then sign this petition to have the Government reconsider our recommendations.
