I was proud to plant five trees on Friday 2nd November in Thornes Park as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy initiative.

The five trees for Wakefield will join 50,000 others being planted across the country. All five of Wakefield’s QCC saplings are native species that support birds, insects and other wildlife.

The trees have been donated by the Woodland Trust, with their partners at ITV and Sainsbury’s.

The initiative was launched by the Queen, and featured in an ITV documentary earlier this year called ‘The Queen’s Green Planet’ with Sir David Attenborough.
