On Saturday 25 July, Mary Creagh MP attended and spoke at an anti-fascist demonstration, unifying under the name ‘We are Wakefield’. This was organised in response to the National Front’s march through Wakefield.
Mary Creagh said:
“Ours is a vibrant and tolerant city. The racism of far-right organisations like the National Front has no place in Wakefield, and no place in 21st century Britain. I was proud that so many people turned out in the city to show their solidarity with the silent majority of decent people who want a peaceful and tolerant society. It was a privilege to speak alongside our local Bishop at the ‘We Are Wakefield’ rally, standing up for a diverse local community.”
