I want to express my gratitude and humility to the people of Wakefield for electing me as their Member of Parliament for a third time.
After talking to literally thousands of people on their doorstep, I have been deeply touched by the warmth, support and honesty of people in Wakefield.
Across the country the Labour Party suffered a terrible defeat but I am proud that Wakefield, Horbury and Ossett rejected the politics of division and fear in favour of Labour’s more hopeful …vision of the future.
I will continue to work closely with our Labour council to deliver for everyone in Wakefield, no matter who they voted for. I will also be a strong voice in Parliament to speak out for a strong economy, good public services and those who have no voice.
I would like to thank my agent Cllr Lawrence Kirkpatrick, and my whole campaign team who worked so tirelessly over weeks and months for this result. I will not let you down.
