Last week all MPs had the chance to vote for a new chair of the Environmental Audit Committee and Mary came out on top. The committee scrutinises the environmental impact of government departments and has already written reports on flooding and the Green Investment Bank.

Mary said, “I am thrilled to be the Environmental Audit Committee’s new chair and am looking forward to getting stuck into examining government departments straight away. I’m also very keen that the committee is better known among the general public.”

Mary was interviewed on Radio 4’s ‘Today in Parliament’ programme about her new role. Click here to listen - Mary’s interview is 19 minutes in.
