Mary debates EU referendum

Mary made the case for Britain to remain in the European Union at a debate organised by Prospect Union at their conference in Bournemouth on 10 May 2016.

Mary debated with Conservative MP Bernard Jenkin, who was making the case for Britain to leave.

She argued that we are stronger, safer and better off in the EU and that a vote to leave would be a leap in the dark. She said, "Why would we opt for the Norwegian model, when the British model - outside the Schengen area, outside the Euro area - has served us so well for over 40 years?"
