Mary Creagh MP opposes new strip club

Mary Creagh MP is formally objecting to an application for a new strip club on Bank Street.

Mary Creagh said:

“Strip clubs have no place in Wakefield. They look seedy and this venue, close to the theatre and Unity Hall, would undermine the regeneration of Westgate. That’s why the last Labour government changed the law so these clubs had to have a special license and could be rejected by local councillors. I am working with local Councillor Margaret Isherwood and we are formally objecting to this proposal. I would urge people who are concerned to contact my office so that we can pass on their concerns to the licensing department at the Council.”
