The Conservatives’ new education funding formula means schools in Wakefield face a real terms cut to their budgets of 11% by 2020. This is the first time in over 20 years that school budgets have been cut in real terms. Cutting school budgets means cutting children’s life chances.
Under this Tory Government:
Class sizes are up. Teaching and support staff numbers are down
Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities have lost vital funding
9 schools in Wakefield are in deficit
I have spoken out against these proposals in Parliament, you can watch and read my speech here.
Find out how the cuts affect your local school by using the NUT's cuts calculator, here.
